Nebraska basketball: Isaiah Roby starting the season a bit banged up
The Nebraska basketball season is all about the idea that this could be the year for real growth, but they’re going to need a healthy Isaiah Roby to do it.
When Tim MIles was at the podium for his preseason press conference on Monday, most of the topics were about how good the team was looking and what good shape the players were in.
Mixed in all the positives was one piece of news that might have perked some ears up. One of the best players on the team, Isaiah Roby is going to be missing the first few practices at the very least.
The forward is sidelined at the moment with what Tim Miles reported was plantar fasciitis. The good news is that isn’t something that is going to keep Roby out for months.

The bad news is that it’s something that could crop up again and again. Rest is really the only thing that is going to make it go away.
More good news is that Roby isn’t someone who is new to the team or the Big Ten. While it’s clear the Huskers would like to have him ready to go for the first day of practice today, it’s not a massive loss.
That’s especially the case since the team will have over a month of practices before they get to their first game, which will be an exhibition against Wayne State. The first real game of the season isn’t until November 6 against Mississippi Valley State.
It’s a safe bet Isaiah Roby will be full go before the Nebraska basketball team gets anywhere close to that game. Then it will just be a matter and waiting and watching to see if it looks as though the injury is something that’s hanging on or popping up again over the course of the season.
