If the Nebraska basketball team is going to turn itself into power in the Big Ten, they are going to need to start landing players like Rashad McDaniels.

The Nebraska basketball team is hosting point guard Rashad McDaniels at the end of the week. McDaniels might be one of the most highly sought after point guards in the 2020 class when everything is said and done.

The guard, out of Missouri announced he was going to be taking a trip to Lincoln on his official Twitter account earlier in the week. This is the kind of player the Huskers need to land.

Over the course of Tim Miles’ career, he has landed several highly touted transfers. Players like James Palmer Jr and Isaac Copeland. Terran Petteway and Walter Pitchford too.

What Miles has landed far less often are highly touted prospects in high school. That doesn’t mean he’s never landed them, but it’s an area that he hasn’t had nearly as much success as he’s had in poaching other teams’ players.

Some of that has to do with Nebraska being Nebraska. The recruiting profile of the Huskers isn’t going to beat out Duke or Kansas, or Ohio State or Michigan. Even Illinois and Purdue are more likely landing spots for highly touted highschoolers.

That’s one of the reasons the 2018 season is so important. It’s also why landing McDaniels would be a big deal for the Nebraska basketball team. The point guard is considered one of the best players in ESPN’s top 30.

He’s a point guard that can dish the ball and score. He’s also got good speed and good length. If Miles can really sell Lincoln and the Nebraska basketball program to Rashad McDaniels it could be one heck of a coup for the Cornhuskers. We’ll have to see what comes from his visit on the 18th.
