The Nebraska basketball team is gearing up for the biggest game of the season, if you consider this to be the last resume builder opportunity.

There might have been bigger games over the course of the early part of the season, but the Nebraska basketball game against Maryland is certainly the biggest game of right now.

The contest against the Terps is the last “resume builder” for a team that will need more than just wins. The Huskers are looking like a squad that could win 22 games.

More importantly, it’s looking like a squad that could win 22 games and still miss the tournament. That’s where a win against Maryland comes in.

The win against the last opponent on the schedule with an RPI under 60 is now expected, if only by a slight margin. That means even more pressure is on Nebraska.

The Cornhuskers have been ATS warriors all season, but they’ve rarely been favored against a team as good as Mark Turgeon’s squad can be. The problem is that as talented as the Terapins are, they’ve been struggling down the stretch.

Part of those struggles are likely because the team can’t stay healthy. Maybe they were a bit overhyped as well.

Whatever the reason, the Cornhuskers opened the week as just a 1.5 point favorite. As of Tuesday morning, game day, they are 3.5 point favorites.

The Nebraska basketball team has only been bigger favorites than they are right now three times in conference play this season. The Nebraska basketball team has won all three of those contests.

That’s very good news for a team that needs a victory on Tuesday night. A loss would be quite a blow to at-large chances.
