The Nebraska basketball team got good news regarding Jordy Tshimanga.

The saga of Nebraska basketball and Jordy Tshimanga took a positive turn Monday night. After days of news that seemed to be leaning towards the starting center leaving the program, it appears he’s decided to stay.

The official Huskers’ basketball Twitter feed broke the news just ahead of the team’s game against Illinois. That announcement was that head coach Tim Miles was officially announcing his player would be coming back on Tuesday.

The only downside to this announcement is that the Cornhuskers are still going to be down a man against the Illini Monday night. The other game Tshimanga missed this season was against Penn State.

The Huskers lost their game against the Nittany Lions in overtime. They had fought all the way back from a 13-point deficit to get the team to the extra period.

In their game on Friday, the Huskers seemed out of whack. Some people thought it had to do with Tshimanga’s teammates being worried he was leaving.

If that was the case, if the slow start was a case of the bummers, one can only hope the team comes out charged up Tuesday night. Illinois is 0-5 in conference but still represent a pretty good challenge for the Huskers, who are still learning how to win the big game.

For Tshimanga, the official return can hopefully serve as a kind of reset for what has been a tough season. The center came into 2017 with big expectations but has shot under 40 percent from the field.

Those numbers looked as though they were starting to turn around in the last game Jordy played. The center played his best game of the year against Wisconsin but then started to think about departing shortly after.

The Nebraska basketball team managing to hold onto Jordy Tshimanga is at the very least a boon for this season. The team has hopes of heading to the postseason and all the depth it can get will only help.
