Nebraska basketball: Jordy Tshimanga begins process of leaving the Huskers
Nebraska basketball’s starting center for most of the season, Jordy Tshimanga has officially asked to be released from his scholarship.
Jordy Tshimanga came to the Nebraska basketball team heralded as a kind of savior because he was a talented big man the team had lacked for so long. After one and a half mostly disappointing seasons, it appears his time with the Huskers is over.
The past week has had plenty of reports that the center has been thinking about leaving. It appears he has made his decision.
Most of the talk has been that despite the fact that he’s started every game this season, he hasn’t been happy with his playing time. On Saturday, the Land of 10 reported he didn’t show up for practice and has asked for his official release.

That comes on the heels of him not making the trip to Penn State. The Huskers lost the game on Friday to the Nittany Lions.
They lost after coming back from a 13-point deficit only to fall in overtime. One has to wonder just how different things would have gone if Tshimanga had been in the game.
The good news is, Tshimanga has not exactly played great basketball this season. He’s averaged just over 15 minutes a game and scored 3.5 points per game.
His minutes are up but his scoring is down, thanks to a shooting percentage sitting at .381. Reports earlier this week claimed the center wasn’t happy with his development since Jordy Tshimanga started playing for the Nebraska basketball team.
