Nebraska volleyball hitting its stride down the stretch
The Nebraska volleyball team has been dominant in its last few matches.
It bears repeating over and over again. This Nebraska volleyball team started the year with two straight losses. The reason Husker fans have to keep being reminded of that is because the squad has been so dominant since that start.
Since starting 0-2, the Huskers have gone 21-2. That includes a straight sets win over the Maryland volleyball team on Wednesday night. The Cornhuskers, who can’t seem to get the respect of the national media, are now 14-1 in the Big 10.

That’s the same conference record as Penn State, who is ranked second in the nation. The Huskers have beaten the Nittany Lions, in the two schools’ only head to head matchup. Still, the Cornhuskers are ranked sixth in the country.
That’s certainly not a very big slight in the grand scheme of things, but one has to wonder what they need to do to crack the top five. With the straight sets win over Maryland, the Huskers have now won eight straight matches.
Their only loss is to a Wisconsin team that was ranked 11th in the country at the time. It’s not like Nebraska was beaten down by a bad program.
The ranking isn’t going to matter much if John Cook’s crew continues to take care of business. They’ll take on Rutgers on Sunday next, a team that has yet to win a conference game and has won just five matches all season.

The Nebraska volleyball isn’t going to play a team with a winning B1G record to finish out the season. With the Huskers playing as well as they have lately, the only worry most fans should have is if they start to forget what it’s like to play top-notch talent. It’s onto the NCAA tournament once the regular season is finished in just a few weeks.
