It was all a tease. The Nebraska basketball team had a chance to snap a four-game skid, but it chased that carrot the whole way through overtime, never leading Penn State in a 76-67 loss.

More: The Debate About Tim Miles’ Future

Perhaps the most telling stat is that Nebraska’s biggest scoring duo of Tai Webster and Glynn Watson went a combined 9-for-32. Webster managed 12 points, but 10 of those came in the first half.

Penn State, on the other hand, had four players in double digits including Mike Watkins who not only led all scorers with 18 points but also set a Big Ten Tournament record with eight blocks on the day.

Shep Garner and Lamar Stevens would both add 16 points to the Nittany Lions’ winning effort.

Nebraska found themselves shooting poorly as a whole as they dipped to 34 percent from the field, a spot they’ve been hovering around during their five-game losing streak.

If there was one bright spot, it may have been for the future as Evan Taylor led all Husker scorers with 15 points and completed two of three shots from beyond the arc.

So here we are. Nebraska ends their season 12-19 and all eyes turn to Shawn Eichorst and his eventual decision regarding head coach Tim Miles’ future.

This Nebraska basketball team looked apathetic at times, sloppy at others, they had a few great runs but ultimately fell short. It was a perfect microcosm of the season.

What Eichorst decides to do from here is truly anyone’s guess, but the oven appears preheated for Miles’ goose to be cooked.
