The Nebraska basketball team had a chance to hang with a turnover-prone Michigan State team early on. Unfortunately, things got out of hand and the Huskers fell — hard.

You’d think Tai Webster‘s first career double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds) would have resulted in a more fruitful result for Nebraska, or at least the ability to keep the final score respectable.

Unfortunately, the all-around effort was lacking as the Huskers were shoved out of East Lansing by a score of 88-72.

More from Nebraska Basketball

Nick Ward and Miles Bridges both contributed 20 points for Michigan State while Joshua Langford offered 17 of his own to a team that ran into the locker room at the half on a 21-5 run.

The Spartans finished the evening with a 47 percent shooting effort from the floor while Nebraska hung around a sad-to-see 39 percent.

Michigan State did quite a bit of damage down low outscoring Nebraska in the paint 42-28. The Spartans also took advantage of the opportunity for second chance shots nabbing 18 points on their repeat efforts to the Huskers’ three.

That Nebraska led for all of 1:48 in the game should tell a bulk of the story as well.

The Nebraska basketball team will finish out its season with three home games starting with a very winnable tilt versus Illinois this Sunday. Tip-off is at 6:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on BTN.
