The Nebraska basketball team needed a conference win and while love is usually in the air for the home team when in The Vault, there was a little extra as this Valentine’s Day contest progressed.
Early on, it was The Jordy Tshimanga Show. The Huskers’ center was one of four members of the Big Red to tally double-digit points on the evening with Tai Webster, Jack McVeigh and Glynn Watson, Jr. notching 12, 12 and 15, respectively.
McVeigh would sink a half-court three-pointer as time expired in the first half giving Nebraska a 45-37 lead. That appeared to be a sign of the Huskers’ luck for the rest of the night. The Big Red would go on a 10-point run midway through the second half that saw Isaiah Roby slam down two dunks that would be appropriate for an NBA Jam reboot commercial.
The Huskers shot a crowd-pleasing 55 percent from the court, at times hovering around potentially ending the game at about 60.
Free throws were cleaned up quite a bit with the Big Red drilling 15-of-20 and while turnovers were still an issue with Nebraska turning the ball over 12 times, the Huskers out-rebounded the Nittany Lions 40-29.
At one point, the Huskers had a 20-point lead which is their largest since the Obama Administration (thank you, Brian Rosenthal). It was then topped.
#Huskers shot 55.4 percent and led the final 38:54, and never trailed. Biggest lead was 24 points.

Unfortunately, Roby came down awkwardly on his foot and required assistance to limp off the court and into the back as the game wore down.
