Big Ten Football: Power Rankings – Week Four
1. Michigan State (2-1)
Last Week: beat Eastern Michigan 73-14
Apparently, Michigan State had too long to think about the Oregon loss. If you’re an Eastern Michigan fan, at least. The Spartans took out their frustration on the Eagles to the tune of record-breaking beat down.
Michigan State finished with it’s highest scoring total in 25 years. While the offense was certainly impressive in putting up more than 70 points, the stat of the day goes to the defense.
It held the Eagles to one yard in the first half. That’s not a misprint. ONE YARD! This helped them to a 49-0 lead after the second quarter.
Eastern Michigan is far from a powerhouse but it’s still an FBS team.

Michigan State’s non-conference schedule ends this weekend with Wyoming, but the beat downs may not end there. Sparty have shown what he can and will do to inferior opponents, and there looks to be a few of those on his Big Ten slate.
Michigan State may stay atop the power rankings for another week, but their biggest challenger looms large.
Nebraska visits East Lansing on Oct. 4 for a game that will likely determine the team that holds the Big Ten’s best chance at a playoff spot.
This Week: Wyoming (Sept 27- 11 a.m. on ESPN2)
My Prediction: Michigan State 56-16
