Former Nebraska basketball star Shavon Shields has had two very good summer league performances so far this month could he be on the NBA’s radar?

Shavon Shields is showing the kind of talent that Nebraska basketball fans be “on the regular” from now on. The former Husker is showing off his stuff in the NBA’s Summer League for the New Orleans Pelicans.

So far Shields, who has played both guard and forward for New Orleans has had two very good games where he’s shown that he can be a jack of all trades.

Following a great outing on Friday, Shields once again led the team in Minutes (33) on Monday afternoon. In that game he scored 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting. That included going 2 for 3 from beyond the three-point arc.

While Shields was far from a bricklayer for the Huskers, he wasn’t considered a dead eye from three-point range in college. It appears so far in this Summer League season that he’s picking his spots better as he’s hit three of his four three-point attempts.

Scoring isn’t the only thing he did well on Monday. In addition to the 14 points, he also hauled down four rebounds, dished out five assists and recorded two steals.

Touching stats in so many categories is something he did in his first game for the Pelicans as well. So far in the Summer League contests, Shields is averaging 13 points, six rebounds, four assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He’s also shooting 64 percent from the field.

Shavon Shields is certainly doing everything he can to show the NBA he deserves a shot at a roster during the regular season. Until he gets that shot, he’ll continue to play professional basketball across the pond.

Earlier in the day it was announced the former Nebraska basketball star had signed a new (and his first ever) contract with the prestigious Euroleague. Shields will be taking his talents to play for Baskonia.
