It’s hard to call Ty Robinson a well kept secret. However, the Nebraska football defensive star never seems to get the reputation outside of the Big Ten that he deserves. That may start to change after Thursday’s results at the NFL Combine.
Amid a flood of big players deciding not to compete in the athletic competition, the former Huskers might have helped his draft status in a very big way. He certainly couldn’t have hurt hit.
Robinson took part in the 40-yard-dash for his position group. The Nebraska football star not only performed well, but as of writing, has the top speed of any defensive lineman, clocking in at 4.83 seconds. That’s beyond impressive for someone who stands 6-foot-5 and weighs in 288 pounds.

Nebraska football star blows competition away at NFL Combine
So far, Robinson’s best time of the combine is 3 tenths of a second better than the next best performers, Jared Harrison-Hunte of SMU and Tyrion Ingram-Dawkins of Georgia tied for second best with a 4.86 40-yard dash.
The next best after them was Aeneas Peebles with a 4.94 time.
Robinson has impressed the right people, at least on social media, raising eyebrows from the people who pay attention to this sort of thing. It’s also worth pointing out that his time is among some of the best in the last 20 years of the NFL Combine.

The former Nebraska football star is in fact, carrying the 22nd best time among defensive lineman since 2003. For Huskers, only Khalil and Carlos Davis have better times. Khalil’s 4.75 while weighing in at 308 pounds is especially crazy.
If Ty Robinson is a well kept secret and hasn’t been getting talked about as much as he should, chins might start wagging a bit more about one of the best defensive linemen to come through the Nebraska football program.
