Super Bowl winning ex-Husker says it's 'playoffs or bust' for Nebraska in 2025

An NFL alum says it’s time for Nebraska to think Playoff or bust

Former Nebraska football star Cam Jurgens might be a few years removed from his former school, but he's still got a lot of love in his heart for the Cornhuskers. The Philadelphia Eagles' offensive lineman expects quite a bit from Year 3 of Matt Rhule. So much in fact that he'll be disappointed with anything but a College Football Playoff bid.

"All we need to do is win," Jurgens recently said during an appearance on Pardon My Take. "You know, they made the first bowl game in several years. So I was happy to see that. So this year, playoffs or bust."

The former Nebraska football player was clearly joking, as he's aware as anyone just how hard it can be to make the College Football Playoffs. However, he did add that after getting to the NFL and immediately being part of a team that won a Super Bowl, he doesn't believe it's as hard as his former Husker coach Scott Frost made it.

"I think everybody thought it was going to work," Jurgens said of the Frost era. "I feel like every game we just found ways to lose games. We had good players, and we played really well, but then it’s just like we just found ways to lose it, and we were really good at that. You know, I never made a bowl game in college, and then I get to the league, three years in, Super Bowls … It was like, seven or eight losses within like (three points at Nebraska the one year)."

While Jurgens keeps one eye on the Cornhuskers, he's also busy preparing with his Eagles teammates for an attempt at a repeat Super Bowl title. Things are going well there, as he's now practicing without limitations after spending several months rehabbing a back injury suffered towards the end of 2024.

One certainly hopes that the Nebraska football team can live up to Cam Jurgens' words and make a surprise run to the postseason.
