If it hasn’t been written yet, the final history of the Scott Frost era with the Nebraksa football program is going to have a lot more wrong steps than right calls. However, one step the former head coach that was just proved to be correct on Monday morning was transitioning Cam Jurgens from tight end to center.
The move, back in 2018 was met with quite a bit pushback. It was met with even more pushback when Jurgens had some serious problems snapping the ball. More than a few people thought he should have ditched the “experiment” but he never did. And now Jurgens is quickly becoming one of the best centers in the NFL. He’s also being paid like it.
After an up and down career with the Nebraska football team, he’s had only a stellar one with with the Philadelphia Eagles and now he’s being rewarded for it. Cam Jurgens signed a new deal on Monday that will make him the second highest paid center in the history of the NFL.
Pro-Bowl center Cam Jurgens and the Eagles reached agreement today on a four-year, $68 million extension that includes $39.4 million guaranteed that contractually ties him to Philadelphia through the 2029 season, per the team and his agent Ryan Tollner at @excelfootball. pic.twitter.com/IBS1CFX4HY

Jurgens was entering the final year of his rookie deal. But the Eagles wanted to make sure that he would be locked down. It appears they wanted to make sure he was happy to be locked down to boot.
Among the first to report the deal was Adam Schefter who said it’s a 4 year deal with $68 million. $39 million of that money is guaranteed. He’s now tied to Philly through the 2029 season and will continue to be one of the better offensive linemen in the game.
