Earlier this week, former Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost gave his first press conference as UCF head coach of 2025. And in doing so he showed that he’s still the same old Scott Frost.
Despite talking quite a bit about all the things he’s learned since getting fired by Nebraska, some of his answers to questions from a friendly media indicated he hasn’t learned all that much. That included flat out lying at one point about “looking for another job,” claiming he was perfectly happy not coach, when it’s been clear for about a year that he wanted to get back into the profession.
And then, without Nebraska football mentioned specifically in one particular question, Frost found a way to rip into his former boss in Trev Alberts. And in the process, showed that he still doesn’t think most of his problems in Lincoln were his fault.

Towards the end of the press conference (about the 24:40 mark in the video above), Frost was asked about how things are going with UCF AD Terry Mohajir. And it’s here where the former NU coach and legendary quarterback decided to throw a grenade in Trev Alberts’ general direction.
“Yeah, Terry's been great. I'm so grateful to have an AD that's on my side and working alongside me. When you're in the other situation, it's really difficult. And it's really debilitating, to be honest with you, when you feel like you're working and you don't have somebody right there alongside with you. Terry and I are on the same page. He's trying to give us everything that he can to be successful. And it's a good partnership.
That Alberts and Frost weren’t exactly good friends was hardly a secret. After all, the former Cornhuskers’ AD first gave the coach an ultimatum and a pay cut and then fired him after just three games into the 2022 season.
However, the idea that Frost didn’t get “everything he could” to be successful goes against most reporting at the time. Alberts wanted Frost to turn the Nebraska football team around and he simply couldn’t do it to the tune of a 16-31 record.
That he’s still pretending Trev Alberts’ was a big part of the problem could be a very bad sign for UCF fans.
