The Nebraska Cornhuskers entered their Saturday morning game against Indiana needing two things. They needed to get a win in order to play Indiana again for a shot at the Big Ten title game. They also needed starter Will Walsh to go deep into the game in order to preserve arms for the rest of the weekend.

They got both.

Walsh certainly went deep in the opener of the Big Ten semifinals, throwing the first complete game in the Big Ten tournament since last year. Who was the last hurler to log a complete game? Yeah, Will Walsh.

Nebraska Cornhuskers get big win thanks to Will Walsh, Josh Caron

When the game started, it didn't look like Walsh was going to get more than a few innings before he had to leave. In the first inning, he got the first out with a strikeout swinging but then allowed back to back doubles, and the Huskers were down 1-0 early.

However, in the top of the third, Nebraska finally got on the board with the first of two Josh Caron home runs. This one was a three run shot that gave the Huskers a lead they would never relinquish.

From there one, Walsh cruised, allowing 6 hits, a walk and getting 5 strikeouts in 9 innings. Caron hit his second homer in the 8th inning, giving NU some breathing room with a 4-2 lead.

The win means that the Huskers have won three straight after getting run-ruled in the Big Ten Tournament opener. Will Bolt and company got a measure of revenge on Ohio State with a big win over the Buckeyes on Friday night, setting up the Saturday double-header.

Now that the Nebraska Cornhuskers won the first game of the day, they'll return at 4:30pm to try and sweep the Hoosiers and head to Sunday's conference title game.
