Omaha coffee shop launches Nebraska football themed latte

We all knew that there was an official Nebraska football beef jerky, but did you know there is a special coffee flavor for Husker fans? At least there is as of Saturday morning.

While it’s not tied to any NIL deal like the jerky is, an Omaha area coffee shop has decided to come up with a special kind of latte that is meant to celebrate the kickoff the Huskers’ season against UTEP.

Hardy Coffee, which has several locations around Omaha announced the new flavor through an emailed release. The special coffee the shop is starting to sell on August 31 might take a bit of getting used to, as it’s billed as a Sweet Corn Latte.

“Not trying to be too corny,” the release read. “But we think our new Sweet Corn Latte is a-maize-ing! We’re all ears, ready to field your appreciation for the creation of this gluten-free beverage. Our bakery has created a sweet corn creamer that, when added to our espresso, is ‘Poppin.’”

Hardy is also selling the creamer separately, meaning that anyone who takes a liking to their morning coffee tasting like lunch fresh from the farm, can enjoy a cup from home while they watch replays of the Huskers’ eventual win over the Miners.

You may have noticed that most coffee shops in your area like Starbucks and Scooters have already started rolling out their fall flavors like the famous Pumpkin Spice Lattes. Hardy will roll out their own on Sunday, one day after the Sweet Corn Latte.

It’s not clear if the new special Huskers homage will be offered for the entirety of the fall, or is a very short-lived special flavor.

It is unfortunate that the Nebraska football game isn’t at 11 a.m. since that would be the perfect pairing with this interesting flavor offering.
