When Micah Mazzccua arrived in Lincoln, he impressed his Nebraska football teammates almost right away. However, since the season started, he’s missed as many games as he’s played in. And now there seems to be at least one indication that he’s going to miss quite a few more.

In fact, lacking an explanation for why he’s not with the team, it’s possible the monster offensive lineman might be on his way out the door. One has to hope that there is an explanation that could be acceptable to the coaching staff.

According to Rivals’ Steve Marik, while the rest of the Nebraska football team was headed to West Lafayette, Indiana Mazzccua was spotted getting on a plane to San Francisco out of Omaha.

The assumpiotn being made by many in the Husker fan base is that the offensive lineman might finally be done for good with Matt Rhule and company. It’s a question that will almost certainly get asked after the game on Saturday but for now is a bit of a mystery. If not the what, then the why.

Nebraska football takes a surprise hit on offensive line

Mazzccua has already been in trouble this season. He missed the game against Northern Iowa in what was a surprise addition to the injury list. However, after the game, Rhule said he wasn’t hurt and was “dealing with some stuff”

Last week, he was initially ruled out against Illinois for the same issues but was eventually allowed to be with the team and even warm up. However, he didn’t appear against the Illinis either.

There had been no comments about weather or not Mazzccua was available for Purdue. It was thought that he might be. Unless he was taking a special, coach approved trip to San Francisco before joining the team at Purdue he will at the very least, not be part of the Nebraska football team this Saturday.
