As we’re just about ready to officially start the 2024 season, there are a ton of different players on the Nebraska football team that are plenty interesting. Chief among them has to be former Florida Gator offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua.

Should Mazzccua live up the hype that followed him to, and then from Gainesville, there are few people who doubt that he could live up to the hype. He could even challenge for the All-Big Ten team if he really puts on a show.

First he has to win over his coaches. It seems after a rocky start, he’s started to do that. He also has to win over his teammates. He seems to be doing that quite well too.

During media availability ahead of Nebraska football’s fall camp on Wednesday, defensive lineman Jimari Butler talked about how much he’s been impressed by Mazzccua.

When asked which Nebraska offensive lineman has given him the hardest time as a blocker, Butler didn’t hesitate to name Mazzccua. “He’s a dog,” Butler added.

Fellow offensive lineman Teddy Prochazka was also complimentary. He thinks the Florida transfer has grown quite a bit this offseason.

“He’s doing a really good job just buying into the culture we have here,” Prochazka said. “The first few weeks were an adjustment for him. I feel like he’s doing a really good job kind of meshing with the guys and getting to know us. And we’re getting to know him.”
