I’ve talked quite a bit about the roller coaster that is Nebraska football recruiting over the last few weeks. For the most part, that rollercoaster has been manned by Cortez Mills. That ride is just about over.

However, there’s another roller coaster that the Huskers are apparently destined to ride on. The bad news here is that the biggest and baddest rollercoaster NU is riding is an in-state player. Of course, that ride might be over as well.

Chase Loftin has spent the better part of a year being someone who has gotten a ton of attention from other schools. However, he still looked like he was eventually going to be a member of the Nebraska football team. Now it looks like he might be all but gone.

All of the sudden, it looks as if the Millard South tight end is on his way out the door. And he’s on his way out the door to Florida State.

Loftin just took his official visit to Lincoln last weekend. And after he did so, several analysts believed he might be extremely close to pull the trigger. However, things changed. They changed in a matter of days. And it seems as though he might indeed pull the trigger, though this time for the Seminoles.

On Friday night, 247Sports FSU analyst Zach Blostein put in a Crystal Ball for Loftin to land in Tallahassee.

Right about the same time, no less than five On3 analysts also entered predictions for Chase Loftin to shun Nebraska and head to Florida State. It’s hard to see a way where NU turns it around. At least for now.

There is a point to be made that this might not be a Nebraska football issue. The Huskers have a very deep tight end room at the moment. This could be more a situation where Loftin feels like he can get more playing time elsewhere. It just hurts a bit more because FSU is also actually a better situation for a while now.
