Nebraska football could be pulling off another Georgia Bulldogs flip
June is going to be a massive month for the Nebraska football program. And that’s just talking about the things we know will happen, like several huge official visits.
The Cornhuskers are strategically operating in the shadows, with their sights set on recruiting another prominent player from the Georgia Bulldogs. If Matt Rhule and his team manage to secure this recruit, it’s bound to ignite a firestorm of controversy in Athens.
The Nebraska football team, in a bold move, snatched Dylan Raiola from under Kirby Smart and his crew's noses last winter. The wounds are still fresh for some Bulldogs fans. The situation is likely to escalate when Raiola starts for NU this fall, especially if he performs well and leads them to a bowl for the first time since 2016.
Nebraska football could be on their way to stealing another prospect from Georgia
Earlier this week, Jaden Perlotte, a Georgia commit, shared a social media post that has stirred up quite a buzz among Husker fans. The post features Perlotte leaping over the aforementioned Raiola, both sporting NU gear. This seemingly innocuous picture could have far-reaching implications for the recruiting landscape.
That picture, on its face wouldn’t be all that exciting. It could be dismissed as just another recruiting visit photo.
There’s some other stuff going on behind the scenes though. First and foremost is why Raiola was in the picture at all. This isn’t just the quarterback doing some peer recruiting.
Raiola played with Perlotte last year at Buford high. He was also of course, a commit to Georgia the same time that Perlotte was considering the 4-star linebacker has been pledged to the Bulldogs since 2022.
There’s also the fact that the picture is very similar to one that Raiola shot with 5-star athlete Michael Terry Like the social media post with Terry, the post als had the caption, “Be Legendary.”
Considering that Terry is regarded as a heavy Nebraska football lean and has accused head coach Matt Rhule of not “playing fair.” In this case, that just means that the coach has made Terry really, really like the Huskers. It’s possible that magic has been worked again on Jaden Perlotte.
