It was only a matter of time. Nebraska football is set to host one of the best wide receivers in the 2025 class this weekend. In the process, the Huskers will try to steal away Isaiah Mozee from one of their newest conference rivals.
Mozee, a 4-star pass catcher out of Lee's Summit North, is slated to visit Lincoln this weekend. His visit is hardly a shock, but it does mean that the Huskers are turning the page after a period that saw some frustrating recruiting losses.
Getting Mozee to town is just step one of a grand plan that Matt Rhule is rolling out. The wide receiver is still committed to Oregon as I type this, so there’s some work to do. However, it can’t hurt that the Nebraska football team added his father, Jamar Mozee to the staff just 10 days ago.
Nebraska football looking to sway Oregon commit
The addition of the elder Mozee is a piece of the puzzle, but not the reason he was brought on board. The elder Mozee announced last Sunday that he'd been hired as a senior football assistant at NU after briefly serving as an analyst at Central Florida.
His hiring appears to be part of the Huskers adjusting to the new rule that allows programs to have as many assistants as they want.
He happens to be quite the accomplished high school football coach. Mozee comes to Lincoln after spending the past ten seasons at Lee's Summit North, the last eight of which he served as head coach. Mozee led the Broncos to a 64-35 overall record. The program hit their stride in the back half of his tenure, going 11-2 in 2021, 12-2 in 2022 and 10-1 in 2023. Lee's Summit North made three straight appearances in the Missouri Class 6 state semifinals, and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2024.
Now he’ll be part of the effort to bring Isaiah Mozee over from Oregon. It might not happen this weekend, but this is where the Nebraska football program will start laying that foundation for real.
