Nebraska football fans named amongst biggest 'Kool Aid drinkers'

At least one analyst understands that the Huskers' season could go south in a hurry.

It should come as no surprise to anyone that there is a lot of excitement around the Nebraska football team. At the very least, most people think the Huskers are headed to a bowl game. However, there are some who believe NU could even make the CFB playoffs with a little help and a little luck.

With guys like Dylan Raiola under center, a defense that was among the best in the country last year and how much improvement Matt Rhule teams see between Year 1 and Year 2 people expect big improvements. But what if they don’t come?

Analyst Mike Farrell believes there may be storm clouds on the horizon. He recently included the Nebraska football team’s fans in what he calls “Kool Aid drinkers.”

What Farrell obviously means by this tag is that the Husker fans might be a bit too confident in what they’re being told. They might be a little too convinced that NU is bigger and better and badder than ever. That despite the fact Nebraska hasn’t been to a bowl since 2016.

“I have to include my old friends at Nebraska,” Farrell wrote. “While I believe in Matt Rhule as the best coach there since Bo Pelini, this has also been the way of the Huskers. Get excited and then lose game after game in an unimaginable way.”

It’s not as though Farrell has anything against Cornhuskers fans. In fact, he’s been one of Matt Rhule’s biggest cheerleaders since the coach arrived in Lincoln. Farrell just understands that NU has indeed found new ways to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

So who are the other Kool Aid drinkers on the list? Colorado is the first team mentioned, followed by Rutgers, Miami, and Oklahoma State.

All of this is just to say that Nebraska football clearly still has some things to prove. Especially after they were 5-3 last year and looked ready to go bowling, and then losing four straight close games to miss the postseason once again.
