Nebraska football makes dubious history in EA Sports College Football 25

For the first time in the history of the series, no Nebraska football player will be getting the kind of treatment we're used to seeing.

As we get closer and closer to launch of EA Sports College Football 25, we’re also getting closer and closer to knowing just how Nebraska football will be represented in the game. So far, when it comes to how good the team will, not so good.

Electronic Arts released its Top 100 players in the game earlier on Wednesday and that showed the list goes all the way down to players who are rated 90 overall. While it’s not particularly surprising that no Huskers made the Top 100, it is a bit striking based on the dubious history that hints at.

It would appear for the first time since the NCAA Football/EA Sports College Football series first launched, it won’t have a Nebraska football player with a 90+ overall rating.

Twitter account Arbitrary Analytics was the first to point out that not having a player in the Top 100 was some bad history that really does show just how far the Huskers have fallen, even since NCAA Football 14.

The account also pointed out that “previously the fewest was 1 (2004, 2008, 2013 editions)”

Those years, Judd Davies got a 91 in  NCAA 2004, Sam Keller got a 91 in NCAA 2008 (truly one of the most inaccurate ratings in the game’s history) and Rex Burkhead got a 93 rating in  NCAA 13.

That Nebraska has found some more dubious history in the latest iteration fo the video game series is not a surprise at all. It’s hard to think of a player that could get a 91 this year. Tommi Hill would likely be the only one. It’s possible the defensive back will get an 89.

The rest of EA Sports College Football 25 rosters should be on the way soon. It will be interesting to see where the rest of the Nebraska football team sits.
