Nebraska football gets another gut punch as it's left off 'toughest places' Top 25

Nebraska football fans are understandably excited about the upcoming season. They think that the sleeping giant is going to be awakened by the collaboration between Dylan Raiola and Matt Rhule, among other coaches and players.

That excitement underlines just how bad the Huskers have been for so many years. And that point was underlined again on Tuesday morning. For what feels like the umpteenth time, Husker fans were reminded how far the program has fallen in the eyes of the rest of the college football world by EA Sports College Football 25 of all things.

Nebraska football gets gut punch as it’s not scaring anyone anymore

The upcoming video game, which releases in exactly three weeks if you have the early access edition, released its Top 25 toughest places to play. That used to be a list where Memorial Stadium would be a given.

Unfortunately, Nebraska football not going bowling since 2016 has tarnished the Huskers’ home field. It appears that considering the school missed the Top 25 entirely, the Cornhuskers have some work to do. They’re going to need to win some games in order to open the EA Sports College Football season among the rankings for the next edition.

The Cornhuskers do have a couple of games where they can once again demonstrate that Memorial Stadium in Lincoln is one of the toughest places to play. It’s one of those places that Husker opponents would almost surely attest to already.

It’s worth pointing out that some analysts don’t agree that the Huskers don’t play in a stadium that’s hard to play in. Andy Staples wrote his own response to the EA Sports College Football 25 list and put the Nebraska footbal team at 23rd. That certainly seems a bit better. With plenty of room to jump up the ranks.
