Nebraska football being in the running for top OT target David Sanders Jr has long been surprising to many recruiting analysts around the country. Just how much they’re in the running is still the subject of much conjecture.

There are some who believe the Huskers were never really in the running. Others believe they might be the darkhorse entry in the race for Sanders. However, they could go from dark horse to front runner if they’re the beneficiaries of a second visit from the Charlotte (NC) Providence Day five-star.

Sanders is set to announce his commitment on August 17. Before he does so, he wants to take at least one more visit. And the vibes around those desires seem to be that the visit could be to see the Nebraska football team one more time.

According to On3, there are a couple of teams that could get that one of the last visits from the offensive lineman before he pulls the trigger. It appears the Huskers are a front runner for that visit precisely because they’ve only gotten one so far.

Sanders has taken multiple visits to the other finalists for his services. The fact that NU only got one visit is one of the reasons why they haven’t been considered a real contender. However, if he takes another trip to Lincoln, that may change.

Of course, Sanders’ family is also talking about a possibility of taking more than one visit before August 17. The offensive lineman’s mother said they’re working to get a couple of visits before his final decision.

There’s certainly no guarantee. The Nebraska football team is still swimming upstream. Ohio State, Tennessee and Georgia are among the favorites to land him. But things could shift quickly in the next few weeks.
