Nebraska football: Conference expansion rumors continue

While the Nebraska football team has been hearing all kinds of expansion rumors over the last few weeks, it looks like things are calming down a bit. That doesn’t mean that things are all calm and quiet for good.

It’s hard not to think about teams moving here and there some more in the near future. After all, this summer saw all sorts of schools officially become part of a new conference. Teams settling into new homes are the Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners, UCLA Bruins, USC Trojans, Washington Huskies, Oregon Ducks, Colorado Buffaloes, Arizona Wildcats, California Golden Bears, Stanford Cardinal, Arizona State Sun Devils, Utah Utes and SMU Mustangs.

There’s one team that analyst thinks makes more sense for Nebraska football conference rival

Last week, David Pollack talked about a few more teams he could see in a different conference soon. On OutKick, Pollack said he could eventually picture the North Carolina Tar Heels in the Big Ten. It would certainly be interesting to see if Nebraska football could eventually have the Tar Heels as a conference rival.

Pollack even called North Carolina the perfect team to join the Big Ten.

"I'll throw a couple of other teams at you, too. North Carolina has value; that's a perfect Big Ten team. North Carolina, I could see in the Big Ten. North Carolina and Virginia, those two teams to me end up in the Big Ten.

North Carolina has been mentioned before as a possible addition to the Big Ten. The Cavaliers are a relatively new addition to the conversation, though they certainly make sense. With the Maryland Terapins already in the B1G, their rivals joining the fray does indeed make sense.

None of this will happen anytime soon, if it happens at all. At this point, any new Nebraska football conference rivals wouldn’t be here until 2026, as the deadline to leave the ACC this year is almost here.
