Nebraska football coaches pulling out all the stops for Florida WR prospect
Now that the calendar has turned to January, the Nebraska football coaching staff is trying to lock down some of the best players in the 2025 class. That includes one Cortez Mills, who likely qualifies as the Husker's top wide receiver prospect for this cycle.
Mills was shown that he's definitely fond of the Nebraska football program and what its coaches are offering. He was in Lincoln this past weekend for the school's first Junior Day of 2024. Not long after he left Lincoln, head coach Matt Rhule followed up with a visit to Mills' home town.
Mills showed off that he seemed to enjoy the visit on social media not long after Rhule paid him a visit. He posted a photo of the two hanging out and looking like they got along quite well together.
Mills has long been not only one of the Huskers' top targets, but he's also thought to have a Nebraska lean. As the cycle continues to tick towards Early Signing Day for the 2025 class, it feels as though Mills will eventually be signing with the Cornhuskers.
Mills is a 6-1 170-pound wide receiver from Homestead High School out of Homestead, Florida. The four-star prospect showed off what he could do as a junior and looks to only improve on that in his final season in high school. In 2023, Cortez Mills made 53 catches in 11 games for 1,136 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Nebraska football pushes relationship with Cortez Mills
The talented wide receiver is expected to set an official visit to the Huskers. As of now that hasn't happened. Of course, it's possible he did exactly that when he was meeting one-on-one with Rhule.
If there is a team that Matt Rhule and company are going to have to fend off the most, it will be the Miami Hurricanes. On3 has the ACC school as the most likely landing spot.
One has to wonder if the Nebraska football team doesn't move up the charts a bit now that Mills knows he'll be having Dylan Raiola throwing him the football if and when he comes to Lincoln.
