While the Nebraska football team is busy getting ready for its game against the UTEP Miners, it’s also looking to add some new players for the next few years. And Matt Rhule and company are looking far and wide in order to get those players.

The most recent indication of that is that the Huskers are going all the way into the 2027 class in order to try and replenish their talent. Specifically, NU became just the third team to give an offer to Saint Louis wide receiver Chance McPike Jr.

The 2027 prospect announced on social media that the Nebraska football team came calling. Now the team will need to find a way to work on closing the deal. It’s certainly an interesting project considering how long they’ll have to wait until they can get an actual commitment and NLI from him.

The Huskers are the third program to offer the 2027 recruit, joining Tennessee and the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

With the offer being this early, and both the Vols and Huskers making offers, they certainly won’t be the last three teams to come calling. Especially for someone who is in the talent rich state of Missouri. On that note, it’s interesting that none of the area schools have given him an offer yet.

Nebraska football does not yet hold any commitments in their 2027 recruiting class or 2026 recruiting class, as Matt Rhule and his staff continue to focus on the 2025 recruiting cycle, which currently holds 18 commitments.
