When the Nebraska football team takes on UTEP on Saturday, there will be tens of thousands of people in attendance to watch it happen. Among the many, many people who will watch the Huskers try to make a statement against the Miners is one of the best recruits in the 2027 class.

Cameron Wagner, one of the best offensive linemen in his recruiting cycle announced earlier this week that he’ll be in Lincoln for the UTEP game. Obviously, this isn’t yet an official visit, but what it is, is the Huskers getting a foot in the door for someone good enough to already own a 4-star prospect.

It might be very early, but Nebraska football is just one of many power conference programs that are coming hard after Wagner. Those teams include Iowa and Wisconsin, so the Huskers are definitely going to want to show what they can do against the Miners.

Nebraska football hosting top OL target for future of the program

At the moment, it looks like the Hawkeyes are the team to beat for the St Joseph-Ogden player out of Illinois.

"I have been going to the Hawkeye stadium since I was two years old. My uncle, John Weinke, played there. I have always loved it. It keeps getting better every time," Wagner told Hawkeye Nation earlier this spring.

"I might go back for a game this year. I get very welcomed as if I was really wanted there. They said I can come back, basically, anytime I wanted. So, I definitely will be back in the future," he said.

Wagner has offers from Illinois and Louisville among others. Nebraska football will use their game on Saturday to try and get a leg up on the competition as the 2027 class starts to come more into focus.
