The Nebraska Cornhuskers came into their Tuesday game against the Kansas Jayhawks knowing something needed to change. They had to player better (and especially pitch better) in their midweek games.
Unfortunately, they were not able to accomplish that goal. The Huskers dropped yet another midweek contest to an inferior opponent. The 9-4 loss also means they've suffered a season series sweep against their old Big 8 rivals. In two games against KU, the Huskers' pitching staff has allowed 22 runs.
On that note, it's not a surprise that they're 0-2 this year against the Jayhawks. They've also lost four straight midweek games. And with Kansas being 88th in RPI, this loss is a damaging one for at-large postseason hopes.
Something is broken with the Nebraska Cornhuskers approach to midweek games, it has been for a couple of seasons now and head coach Will Bolt needs to figure out a way to fix it. Quickly.

The Group of 5 is tired of being left out of the playoffs and they might just take their ball and go home, in a way. Apparently some of the schools in what is technically now the Group of 6 with Washington State and Oregon State's Pac 12 getting bumped down, are discssing having their own playoffs.
No word yet on if anyone has pointed out that no one really watches the NIT. And it seems hard to see people watching the NIT of college football.

Most Nebraska Cornhuskers fans knew that landing Frankie Fidler was a long shot. Still it hurts that not only is he not coming to Lincoln, but the Huskers will have to play against him in Lansing. Fidler announced on Tuesday he's headed to Michigan State.
The insult to injury here might be that there's a pretty decent chance that Chucky Hepburn will follow Fidler to the Spartans in the very near future.
