On a day that just didn't feel all that great for the Nebraska basketball team, fans of the program got some very odd news. Some of the games that Hoiberg's Heroes will play next season have been locked in. Including when the next two tilts against the Creighton Bluejays will be played.

Oddly enough, the next time the Huskers take on the Bluejays, it will be on the same day as a Nebraska football game against Wisconsin on November 23. On the one hand, that means it's going to be a big day in Nebraska fandom. On the other, it feels like someone wasn't paying attention.

Why would Nebraska want to pull attention away from either game. The in-state basketball rivalry tends to take place in December, after the football regular season is over.

The game is going back to December 2025. The next matchup in Lincoln is December 7, 2025. That means the Creighton game in November will be a one-off. It just doesn't make a ton of sense.

Those weren't the only games announced on Monday. Nebraska Cornhuskers fans also know that they'll be playing South Dakota on November 27 and Bethune-Cookman on November 9. It's clear that the Huskers are still padding their non-conference with cupcakes.

South Dakota was 12-20 this past season. Bethune Cookman was 17-17. Of course, considering how many new faces the Huskers are going to have, it makes some sense to have a few confidence builders, especially with the Creighton game getting moved up.

More Nebraska Cornhuskers news

Following a weekend sweep of Northwestern, the Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team broke into the Top 25 for the first time in years. The Huskers are 22nd in Baseball America's poll and 23rd in the USA Today/Coaches poll. Next up for Will Bolt's boys is a midweek clash against the Creighton Bluejays. While Nebraska is off to a 20-5 start, the Jays are sitting at 20-4 so this is going to be quite the tilt on Tuesd

Some bad news befell both the Nebraska Cornhuskers women's basketball program and Amy Williams' family in particular. Kennadi Williams, Amy's daughter and Nebraska commit, suffered an ACL injury during a soccer game. It was the second time she's suffered an ACL injury and it likely means she'll have to redshirt for the upcoming season.
