Chills. Goosebumps. And then history for the Nebraska Cornhuskers baseball team.

For the first time since joining the Big Ten, the Huskers won the Big Ten Tournament. And they did it utlizing the most difficult path to that championship possible.

I don't even mean just because they had to win five straight games in order to do it. Though that on its face is one heck of a tough road that meant beating 3rd-seeded Indiana twice in one day.

Consider everything the Nebraska Cornhuskers pulled off this weekend.

They lost their first game of the tournament 15-2, getting run-ruled by the 7th-seeded Ohio State Buckeyes. After knocking off Purdue in the loser's bracket, they faced OSU again and this time almost returned the favor in sending Ohio State home.

They then had to knock off Indiana Hoosiers not once, but twice in order to get to Sunday. Then they had their turnaround for the championship game shortened by quite a bit. The Big Ten believed it was going to rain on Sunday afternoon so they moved the game's start time from 2pm to 10am.

That certainly could have favored a well-rested Penn State club that went 3-0 in their first three games of the tourney. Then the Nittany Lions sent their best pitcher to the mound and he dominated for six innings with his only blemish being a solo home run given up to your Big Ten Tournament most outstanding player, Josh Caron.

There was Jackson Brockett, coming back from that gut wrenching outing in the first game of the tournament, to throw 8 innings and allow just one run. It was easily his best start of the season since his no-hitter. It was redemption. It was needed.

When the smoke cleared, the Nebraska Cornhuskers were 2-1 winners. They are Big Ten Tournament title champs. And perhaps most scary of all for the rest of the country, they're playing their best baseball at the best time.
