There’s all kinds of hope around the Nebraska football team and what they’ll do in 2024. While there are some who are accused of “drinking the Kool Aid” almost everyone thinks the Huskers will win at least six games. There are some who think they can do quite a bit better than that.

Count Huskers head coach Matt Rhule among those who is quite confident the team is going to be better. And it’s not just because he has to say that.

Rhule is one of those coaches who would  be honest, or close to honest if he didn’t think the team was doing things the right way. In fact, he’s been pretty honest about the team doing things he didn’t like so far this fall camp. But he laid out this weekend, why the Nebraska football team will indeed be better in 2024.

Nebraska football looks to make strides in 2024

When you're not a great team last year, what you end up having is you're having a lot of guys who kind of play because they can kind of execute,” Rhule said. “When you want to make the jump to being a good team, it's everyone starts to execute. So now it's the guy who can execute and then go make the big play.

“So I really like where we are. I really do. I really like where we are, except I don't like some of the second unit production today. And the offense has to clean up a couple more procedural penalties.”

It’s that last part that seems to bring a bit of reality to what Rhule said. He likes where the team is but there is still some things that needs to be polished. The Nebraska football team looks and sounds like a team that’s going to make the postseason. Just how good they are depends on how much they can improve.
