In-state quaterback has the eyes of the Nebraska football coaches

Jett Thomalla might not be a household name among Nebraska football fans but that could change very quickly in the coming weeks.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers have Dylan Raiola as their quarterback for the 2024 season. They even have their Plan B in Daniel Kaelin. But in college football, there's no rest for the weary. The coaches always plan for the next year and the year after that.

The Huskers already have a number of offers out for quarterbacks in the 2025 and 2026 class. One guy who might be getting an offer sooner rather than later is Millard South signal-caller Jett Thomalla.

While Thomalla doesn't have a Nebraska football offer yet, it seems like it might just be a matter of time. During a workout at his high school in front of Husker coaches, there are reports that he caught the attention of Matt Rhule and company.

It's possible that the Huskers are going to need to offer soon if they want to win the quarteback over. It appears an old Big 8 rival in Kansas State is trying to elbow its way in. While Rhule is never going to allow another team's interest to steer when and to who he makes an offer, one has to wonder if the Teddy Rezac situation might get the team to move a bit faster.

In the long run, the thing that is going to get Nebraska to offer the 2026 prospect is going to be the way he plays. If the 2023 season is any indicator, that alone will have the coaches officially asking him to join the team in short order.

In-state quarterback earns some looks from power teams outside of Nebraska football

In the 2023-24 season, Thomalla completed 60 percent of his passes for 2,800 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also threw just 9 interceptions. He did all that for a Millard South team that continues to be one of the powers in the state.

The January workout hasn't earned him an offer from the Nebraska football team. But that could change in the very near future. Especially when he's been earning looks from other teams as well.
