Now that fall camp is officially over and the Nebraska football team is preparing for the season opener, the hype around the Huskers and their starting quarterback is only getting bigger. The latest piece of info that shows just how good national analysts believe NU’s QB could be is that he was just named to a rather prestigious list.

Dylan Raiola, while not named QB1 just yet, is expected to not only grab the job but also excel in it. Excel to the point where On3 just named him to their Freshman All American team.

Raiola comes to Nebraska football after spending most of the past recruiting cycle being considered the top player in his class. Even if he didn’t take the top spot for all sites in that area, he was among the best on every list from every recruiting analyst.

Nebraska football quarterback named Freshman All American

Dylan Raiola is the highest-rated quarterback to sign with Nebraska in some time, and it took very little time for him to nail down the starting spot in Lincoln. He brings an advanced level of physical development, passing polish, along with plus arm strength to the position and is a foundational piece in Matt Rhule’s effort to rebuild the Cornhuskers program.

“Raiola will be tested early with Nebraska playing a tough Big Ten schedule in the new-look conference. His ability to quickly pick up the scheme at Nebraska has him set up to see the field earlier than most of his peers.

On3’s superlatives match what those who have watched Raiola practice so far this spring and summer have said. It’s one of the reasons he’s been expected to be the starter for as long as he has.

Raiola isn’t the only member of a Big Ten squad that made the Freshman All American team. Wide receiver Jeremiah Smith from Ohio State, offensive lineman Kevin Heywood, Penn State offensive lineman Cooper Cousins, and Oregon defensive back Aaron Flowers also made the team.

In addition to those talented B1G players, Dylan Raiola and Nebraska football will face off against Colorado and offensive lineman Jordan Seaton, who also made the team.
