Things going south for Nebraska football and the top target left on its board

The Nebraska football team looked like it was in good shape for David Sanders, that may not be the case any more.

Nebraska football fans, players and coaches are exactly one week away from hearing where the top offensive tackle target in the country plans to play his college ball. When David Sanders Jr announces where he’s going, there is an outside shot it could be Lincoln.

However, according to a new prediction by an analyst who might be pretty dialed in, the Huskers might have a Volunteers problem. According to 247Sports analyst Anna Adams, the offensive tackle is heading to Tennesee.

That would quite the disappointing turn of events considering just how much effort the Nebraska football program put into landing Sanders. And while it is disappointing, it wouldn’t be a shock by any means. The Huskers were considered the dark horse for a reason. Landing the 5-star prospect was always a long shot.

Nebraska football appears to have lost its footing in David Sanders race

There’s also the point that the Vols have looked like the front runner for a while now. Even if their fan turnout for Sanders paled in comparison to what the Huskers were able to pull off.

Since March 1, the offensive tackle has taken quite a few visits to potential landing spots. There is one team that got more visits than anyone else. Tennessee in fact was lapping everyone else.

It’s true Nebraska got two visits, and that was an accomplishmnet all on its own. It was the kind of coup that its possible other recruits are going to look at and consider NU more in the future. It’s also the same number that Alabama got.

However, the Volunteers got five visits in that same time span. That’s more than NU, the Crimson Tide and South Carolina got combined.

If there’s any consolation, assuming this prediction comes true, it’s that Ohio State, Clemson and Georgia all got three visits from Sanders each. And they are also losing out to the Orange and Cream clad squad.

If and when David Sanders announces he’s headed to the SEC next Saturday, it will be a back to the drawing board moment for Nebraska football. But they had a good run and in this case that means something. It’s also not over until its over in December.
