Dylan Raiola has officially thrown his first passes for the Nebraska football team. And by all accounts those passes were very, very good. In fact, they were so good that he was able to march the Huskers down the field on their first possession of the season and helped them score a touchdown.
While Raiola didn't get the first touchdown pass of his young career he did look good in the pocket and dished out one pass after another that were solid throws, hitting receivers in stride.
There's also the fact that he did almost have his first college touchdown pass on what was a beauty of a 50-yard throw. Unfortunately, new wide receiver Isaiah Neyor saw the ball go through his outstretched hands. One step quicker and it would have been a fantastic bomb.
On the first drive of the game, Dylan Raiola managed to go 5-for-7 for 54 yards. That included one sidearm throw on 3rd down for a first down completion that had people in the press box wowing over the pass.
Social media was also quite impressed by the performance. Especially for a true freshman making a start for Nebraska football with an immense amount of pressure.

Excellent drive for Dylan Raiola
Interesting first drive. Dylan Raiola looked excellent. Just excellent. A few bonehead errors by others, though. Even so, got in the end zone.

The Nebraska football team won't prove anything with Raiola's performance today against UTEP. But it can take steps towards looking like the program it wants to be again. So far, so good in that regard.
