Deion Sanders' ridiculous, childish meltdown could end up Nebraska football gain

Deion Sanders looks like a man who understands his team isn't that good. Nebraska football should be licking its chops.

If you’re saying to yourself, “oh no another Deion Sanders article,” let me be clear that I would like to stop talking about Coach Prime as well. But as long as he’s such a ridiculous presence in college football, and coaching a team Nebraska football plays this fall, the nonsense he gets up to is worth writing about.

Earlier this week, that nonsense was whining and complaining about the way he’s been covered by CBS specifically. While it’s not totally concrete what Sanders’ problem with CBS is, it’s thought he was mad that a list the organization put out has him at the bottom of the Big 12 conference as far as coaches.

During a recent post-practice press conference, a reporter asked him a question. When that reporter said he was with CBS, Sanders immediately told him it wasn’t a problem with the reporter specifically but with his organization. Then, he continued to air his grievances over and over.

Nebraska football could capitalize on Deion Sanders’ continued meltdowns

But it wasn’t just that he complained about his coverage, it looks like he’s simply feeling the pressure all the way around.

As local Colorado sports reporter Scotty Gange pointed out, Sanders “bullied” the assembled media for the entirety of the press conference.

When one reporter said he bolstered his offensive line, Sanders took issue with that, deciding that “improved” was a better word. As it turns out, those two words mean the same thing. So why complain about what word the reporter used?

He also seemed annoyed when a reporter asked about chemistry. “Some of you don’t even have chemistry at home but you go there every day,” he quipped for some reason.

Anyone who has been reading me for any length of time knows I deeply dislike Deion Sanders. I think, for lack of a better word, he’s a jackass. He’s also had praised heaped on him that no other 4-8 coach would ever have thrown his way.

But his behavior earlier this week could be a sign that things are starting to get to him. He loves it when he gets positive press he didn’t earn. He doesn’t handle things as well when the negative articles start coming his way.

If Deion can melt down like this in a press conference before the season has even started, what happens if things don’t go his way after a loss? Nebraska football has the chance to do the funniest thing on September 7 and find out what this version of Coach Prime looks like.
