The Nebraska football team has had some serious success in the transfer portal over the last few days. Their latest successful foray brought them a replacement for Jaylen Lloyd in the form of former Kentucky wideout Hardley Gilmore IV.

The speedy freshman receiver has got a ton of talent. He’s yet another UK receiver that new wide receiver coach Daikiel Shorts brought over from the SEC school. He’s going to be quite the talent in the wide receiver room. But first he’s got to put some baggage behind him.

As it turns out, Gilmore IV was one of two Kentucky players who were cited on a criminal charge in December. Now that’s he’s officially a member of the Nebraska football team, that might actually be a checkmark in his favor as he’s removed himself from the situation that led to the trouble.

According to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Gilmore was charged on Dec. 7 with misdemeanor assault after allegedly punching someone in the face at a storage unit in downtown Lexington.

As of now, there isn’t more info on what kind of court proceedings might stem from the arrest. However, considering it’s a misdemeanor, it’s entirely possible he could get some sort of diversion treatment.

Hopefully, Hardley Gilmore can put that incident behind him and focus on turning in a fantastic 2025 season for the Nebraska football team after posting 6 catches for 153 yards and a 1 touchdown, while averaging 25.5 yards per reception in 2024.
