In the last week, it has become quite clear how the Nebraska football team's staff wants to fix a leaky defensive line. They're far more interested in getting near finished products from the JUCO route for next year than they are hoping a freshman can come in and wow everyone. The latest sign of this approach is an offer to JUCO defensive lineman David Chukwuemeka.

One of the top JUCO linemen in the 2026 class, the Huskers offered the player on Tuesday. Chukwuemeka is stacking impressive numbers even while new to the game. If he can continue to develop the rest of his game to match his wingspan, he'll be one of the steals of the recruiting class.

The Nigerian native has been adding some power conference offers in recent weeks, including Nebraska after having 35 tackles, including 10 1/2 TFLs and four sacks in just eight games. He's also a talented two-sport star, considering he's a former basketball player who has proved to have some natural traits on the D-line.

Should the Huskers want to bring in the JUCO defender, they're going to need to fight off some heavy hitters. Schools, including Oklahoma State, Arizona, Utah, West Virginia, Kentucky, Baylor, and UCLA, have jumped into the fold this fall, and several trips have been taken.

One of the latest programs to offer Chukwuemeka is the Alabama Crimson Tide. An official visit is already set.

There is hope that Nebraska will also get the defender down to Lincoln before he makes his final call. A Black Friday game against Iowa, the last home game of the season for the Huskers, seems like a safe bet.
