The Nebraska football program is looking to make some serious moves this summer with some of the best recruits in the country. While none have committed to the Huskers yet, Matt Rhule and company appear to be on the verge of nailing some pledges down. One such elite target, moving closer to picking his school, is Zavion Griffin-Haynes.

The 4-star EDGE is moving closer to wrapping up his recruiting, but before he does so, he’s set to take four more official visits. The Cornhuskers are one of the teams that will be blessed with his presence on campus next month.

Nebraska’s summer recruiting battle now runs straight through Tallahassee

Sam Spiegelman reported earlier this week that Griffin-Haynes has narrowed the teams he’s still considering to four. In addition to the Cornhuskers, the talented defender is considering Clemson, Michigan, and Florida State.

The Nebraska football team will have its chance to sell itself on June 13. The Huskers will be the third of four visits, with Clemson getting the first on May 30 and then Michigan on June 6. Florida State will wrap up this tour of top colleges on June 20.

Interestingly, this means that Matt Rhule is going directly head-to-head with his former defensive coordinator. Tony White is now with the Seminoles, and he and defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, also a former Husker coach, would love to win this battle.

Griffin-Hayes is a former North Carolina commit who ranks nationally as the No. 256 player and No. 24 EDGE. He is 6'6" and 235 pounds. Once he wraps up his visits, he’s set to announce his commitment on July 1. At that point, the Nebraska football team could come out the victor in a pitched battle over the next month and a half.
