Nebraska football fans have known for a while now that defensive lineman Ty Robinson is a special breed. The veteran defender might be as good a player at that position to come through Lincoln since Ndamukong Suh.

The good news for Robinson is that more people are starting to figure that out as well. That’s evidenced by the fact that he’s seeing his NFL Draft stock rise in several different mocks. That includes ESPN’s latest, according to Cornhuskers Wire.

Should this particular mock draft be right, the former Nebraska football star would be the No. 50 pick in this year’s NFL Draft. That would put Robinson squarely in the second round and a member of the Seattle Seahawks. That would be quite a noteworthy accomplishment considering how few Huskers have been drafted at all, the last few years, let alone that early.

Ex-Nebraska football star Ty Robinson seeing his NFL Draft stock rise quickly

ESPN’s Matt Miller explained why Robinson has caught everyone’s eye.

Robinson has enjoyed a rapid rise up the board during the pre-draft process thanks to his Senior Bowl week and combine performance. He is an ideal 5-technique for a 3-4 defense with the ability to slide inside on passing downs. Robinson is an ascending player who put his best tape together in 2024, showing improved quickness and awareness. While he doesn't have a top-tier pass-rush plan, he's an elite run defender."

Robinson’s combine performance especially raised eyebrows, considering his size and the speed with which he ran the 40-yard dash.

The Husker defender also had a standout 2024 season. He recorded 37 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and seven sacks. He also had four pass breakups, one blocked field goal, and one safety.

Robinson’s performance with Nebraska football and after his college playing days ended, looks like he might be earning the earliest draft pick by a former Husker since Cam Jurgens and Cam Taylor-Britt in 2022. Before that, we have to go all the way back to Ameer Abdullah and Randy Gregory in 2015.
