Philadelphia Eagles fans have lots of reasons to be excited about the team adding former Nebraska football star Ty Robinson through the NFL Draft but one of those reasons might be because they have a new secret weapon.
The Eagles have long been one of the visionaries of the NFL with a play that for now, is still legal. The “Tush Push,” however has drawn quite a bit of ire in the last few years, mainly because no one has been able to run it as effectively as Philly. It’s been such a nuisance that several teams are angling to make it illegal. And this is where Robinson might enter the picture, as one Eagles beat writer sees it.
Could Nebraska football’s Ty Robinson become the Eagles’ new red-zone enforcer?
Eliot Shorr-Parks is the latest to notice that the former Nebraska football star was a heck of a defensive lineman. But the Huskers didn’t just use him on the defensive side of the ball. In fact, in his final year in Lincoln, Ty Robinson burnished his resume by being a real weapon near the end zone on the offensive side of the ball. Robinson came into the game at fullback eight times and NU scored a touchdown on seven of those possessions.
New Eagles DL Ty Robinson might be the team’s answer to the NFL likely banning the Tush Push

Why is that important for the Eagles? Because as Shorr-Parks pointed out on X, it could mean that Robinson can be a kind of replacement for the Tush Push, should the attempts to make it illegal, succeed.
To back up his argument, the beat writer posted a video of Robinson clearing the way for his Nebraska offense. And while it’s not a totally new idea to use a big bodied player as the fullback, it’s not something teams do on the regular.
If there is an NFL team that might turn to something like a big defensive lineman laying the lead block, it would probably be the Eagles.
First, the former Nebraska football star needs to get situated on his team and start to get to know the defensive play calls. But it’s a safe bet that Ty Robinson would have no problem helping Philadelphia in any way he could.
