It's been a busy weekend for the Nebraska football team as it attempts to rebuild its defense. Not only did the Huskers score their defensive line coach, but they've hauled in two defensive backs in Victor Evans III and Jasin Shiggs.
Evans comes to the Huskers by way of Florida International. He saw his most extensive action for the Panthers in 2025 as he recorded 42 tackles and 4 passes defended.
Shiggs is not only the second commitment of the weekend for Nebraska, but he's also the third defensive back the Huskers have landed through the transfer portal. He's also the most under-the-radar, but the Towson product had plenty of impressive numbers in the FCS that should excite NU fans.

Nebraska lands defensive backs Victor Evans III and Jasin Shiggs
Shiggs is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound safety who has spent the past two seasons in the FCS ranks, where he played and produced since day one at Towson. Through two seasons, he played in 24 games and recorded 103 tackles with two tackles for loss and two interceptions.
This past season as a true sophomore, Shiggs played in 12 games and made 72 tackles, which ranked third on the defense, with one interception. According to Pro Football Focus, Shiggs played 834 snaps in 2025, including 479 coming in the tackle box, 186 in the slot, and 160 as a free safety.
In his one career game against a Big Ten school, the defensive back certainly held his own. Earlier this season, Towson took on Maryland, and while the Tigers were whupped by the Terapins, Higgs logged 7 tackles.
Nebraska got off to a bit of a slow start in the Transfer Portal this year but with the addition of Siggs, they now have 11 signees and are expected to add several more before the winter is over.
