It's been a busy Tuesday for the Nebraska football program. The Huskers bounced back from the Kenny Minchey decommitment by snagging no less than four different commits on Tuesday. Among them is the second Rob Aurich disciple to land in Lincoln, defensive back Dwayne McDougle.

McDougle spent 2025 with San Diego State and new Husker defensive coordinator Aurich, but that wasn't the only time he's hooked up with the DC. He was also a starting defensive back for Idaho in 2024, where Aurich coached before landing with the Aztecs.

McDougle announced he'd committed to the Nebraska football team on Tuesday evening, just a few minutes after the Huskers landed their quarterback in Anthony Colandrea.

Nebraska upgrades its secondary with Dwayne McDougle

Over the course of his career, McDougle has been a ball-hawking safety. Last year, he recorded 51 tackles and 4 interceptions. Over the course of his career, he's logged 127 tackles and 6 interceptions.

Nebraska has been working to overhaul the defense through the transfer portal under Aurich. McDougle comes in as someone who understands the scheme the Huskers will be running, and he'll team with linebacker Owen Chambliss, with whom he also played at San Diego State.

After a relatively slow start to the Transfer Portal season, the Huskers had quite a run on Tuesday. They entered the day with just two commits after losing Kenny Minchey, they're now up to four commits on the day and six since the portal opened on Friday.

In addition to McDougle, Nebraska landed quarterback Anthony Colandrea, offensive tackle Tree Babalade, and linebacker Will Hawthorne. They join linebacker Owen Chambliss and right guard Brendan Black.
