The Nebraska football team's recruiting classes for the next few years might still be small, but they're stocked with plenty of special players, as tight end commit Luke Sorensen demonstrated earlier this week.

Sorensen, one of the best TE prospects in the 2026 class, has ingratiated himself with Husker fans since the day he pulled the trigger on his commitment. However, in a recent video he posted to X, the 4-star player out of Anaheim showed one of the ways the Cornhuskers hit the motherlode by reeling him in. Among those who were mightily impressed was a future teammate of his in quarterback Trae Taylor.

Nebraska commit’s 630-pound deadlift stuns teammates and future QB

The video shows the Nebraska football commit completing the deadlift with a mob of his high school teammates surrounding and cheering him on. The caption of the video shares that Sorensen completed five repetitions of 630 pounds. That weight is certainly impressive for anyone, especially what will be a high school senior at the tight end position. Taylor was certainly impressed enough to comment.

"Well damn that's the monster coming to Lincoln," the Husker quarterback wrote as he reposted the impressive video.

The video is just the latest way Sorensen has impressed. Earlier this year, 247Sports analyst Greg Biggins laid out just how good the Husker commit has looked of late.

"He actually started out at right tackle as a freshman, weighing just 185 pounds before moving to tight end his sophomore year. He has a well built 6-foot-3.5, 250 pound frame with big features including 11 inch hands and a size 17 shoe. He wasn't featured a ton in Servite's passing game as a junior, primarily because the quarterback situation at the school was unsettled but we've seen him at multiple events this off-season and he showed the ability to get vertical and win multiple jump ball battles."

The Nebraska football coaches seem to know who they got when they reeled in Luke Sorensen. His future teammates and the fans are still learning.
