Ever since Thomas Fidone announced he was leaving the Nebraska football program and heading to the NFL, he's impressed scouts at every turn.
Now smack dab in the middle of his first fall camp with the New York Giants, he's continuing to show that he deserves a spot on the roster even if he was just a seventh-round pick. Fidone has been impressing since he first started taking part in camps earlier this year, even drawing the praise of a future Hall of Fame tight end, Travis Kelce. Fidone's talent and athleticism caught the Kansas City Chiefs star's attention at a special camp attended by players all over the league at the position.
Thomas Fidone’s two-point conversion from Jameis Winston highlights his New York Giants debut
Now the former Nebraska football player is getting to show what he can do in an NFL game. Even if it's a preseason game. His performance in the Saturday Giants game included 3 catches for 22 yards and a rather crucial two-point conversion catch that certainly looked like he was one of the only guys on the team who could have hauled the pass down.

On the play, the Giants had just taken a 22-17 lead over the Buffalo Bills and were looking to take a full touchdown advantage. Quarterback Jameis Winston dropped back to pass, initially couldn't find an open receiver, and then threw a jump ball to Fidone. The 6-foot-6 player used every inch of his frame to go up and get the ball despite being well covered, and gave New York the conversion.
In the grand scheme of things, the play itself doesn't have a huge impact. However, the skills the former Nebraska football star showed to make the tough catch is something coaches will certainly notice. Social media took noticed as well, praising the rookie early and often for his toughness.
