The Nebraska football team knows it has a defensive line problem in 2025. Matt Rhule and his coaches are working hard to fix that for 2026 and beyond. The latest attempt to make that fix is the recent pursuit of Dylan Berymon.

Berymon is the No. 8 player in Louisiana and the No. 23 defensive lineman in the 2026 class. While the Huskers are a rather late entry in the race for the talented defensive player, there's a reason for that.

Up until this week, Berymon was a commit to the Texas Longhorns. However, the SEC school lost its grip on the talented lineman. Now, Nebraska is hoping to shore up its 2026 class with one of the better DTs in the cycle.

While the Huskers' defense has been among the best in the country when defending the pass, its run defense has been among the worst in the Big Ten. Its struggles are thanks in large part to a defensive line that hasn't had much success generating much penetration.

Matt Rhule and John Butler are working quickly to address Nebraska's biggest defensive weakness. Earlier this week, they offered one of the top defensive linemen in the JUCO ranks. Now they've turned their attention to the Texas decommit.

Berymon has plenty of schools coming after him. Purdue has somehow taken the lead in the race, according to On3. Nebraska definitely has some ground to make up before signing day. The next step will be getting him on campus for an official visit on Black Friday, the Huskers' last home game of the season.
