The Nebraska football team is preparing for what is shaping up for one of the biggest games of the year. That’s a bit of a surprise considering that UCLA is just 2-5 on the season. But its what happens after the game that makes this tilt a big one.

Should the Huskers get the victory, they’re going bowling for the first time since 2016. In seven chances to get a sixth win dating back to last year, NU is currently 0-6. They need to notch a win today in order to convince some who have gotten nervous about Matt Rhule that he’s still the right guy for the job.

Now it appears that the Nebraska football team might have one of its best defensive backs at its disposal to do just that. Pete Thamel reported on Saturday morning that Tommi Hill is expected to play on Saturday. That’s a bit of a surprise since head coach Matt Rhule seemed to indicate just two days ago that Hill was out again.

Thamel went on to say that Malcolm Hartzog is also trying to play. If he were able to do that, it would mean that two talented defenders that the Huskers said on Thursday likely weren’t playing are both available for the Bruins.

Hartzog seems the least likely of the two to go as he’s got a hamstring injury. Hill has been close to returning or has returned for several weeks now. Of course, that hasn’t worked out that well.

The start Nebraska football defensive back did play against Ohio State, however it was clear he wasn’t near his best and was lifted early in that game.
